Xhorse MQB48 Adapter on VW Cluster Smoking Solution

Problem:

VVDI Key Tool Plus, XDNP81 MQB  Adapter

Key tool plus fails to read VW virtual cluster, it is D70F3256, when put back in car it is black and won’t power on.. every time I read data from MCU it’s chip configuration failed.

Here is the Solution:

Some pins are close to GND, so wrong connection may break cluster.

Test short circuits using multi-meter,

RESET short-circuited: RESET and GND conducting — read and replace chip (lift RESET and soldering)

VCC short-circuited: desolder chip,

1)cluster short-circuited: read chip

2)chip short-circuited: cluster broken
