How to Solve Xhorse Tool Cannot Clone BMW M5 2025 BCP Keys Problem?

One customer attempted to clone a spare BCP key for a BMW M5 2025 using Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus and Multi-Prog. However, the key could not be read, regardless of whether an adapter was used.

What causes this issue?

Check the NXP Chip Version

The answer is often found inside the key itself.

BMW updated the security design of some BCP keys after key cloning solutions became available. As a result, certain newer BCP keys no longer support cloning.

Whether a key can be cloned depends on the NXP chip installed on the key PCB.

How to Verify Compatibility

Open the key shell and inspect the circuit board.

Check the chip marking on the PCB:

NXP 295E

  • Cloning supported
  • Can be cloned with compatible Xhorse tools

NXP 295G

  • Cloning not supported
  • Cannot be cloned

Important Note

Compatibility is determined by the key hardware version, not simply by the vehicle model.

Some BMW vehicles may still use cloneable BCP keys, while newer keys equipped with the 295G chip cannot be cloned.

Before starting a cloning job, always check the PCB and confirm the chip type.

Quick Reference

NXP Chip Cloning Status
295E Supported
295G Not Supported

If your BMW M5 2025 BCP key cannot be read by VVDI Key Tool Plus or Multi-Prog, inspect the PCB first. A 295E chip supports cloning, while a 295G chip does not. This simple check can save time before troubleshooting the programming tools.
