All keys lost job on a 2013 Kia Sorento was completed using the Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus with an XM38 smart key.
A 315MHz (US market) key was generated, and the PIN code was obtained from a vendor. Since no original key was available, the smart slot had to be “tricked” into detecting the key—by adjusting it a few times until the system recognized it.
Once detected, key programming via OBD went through smoothly.

- Smart proximity works
Note: The slot trick is only for programming—real use relies on proximity since the key can’t actually be inserted like during the process.
