When working with Audi MLB keys, some locksmiths and technicians encounter a frustrating issue: the VVDI MLB Tool fails to generate a dealer key using a Keydiy MLB key, showing the key ID as all FFFF. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution to fix this problem and successfully program the key.
The Issue
A case was reported with a 2018 Audi A4, where the Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool was able to collect data normally, but the Keydiy MLB key appeared with ID all FF. This prevented the tool from generating a usable dealer key.
The Solution
If your new Keydiy MLB key has a blank (all FF) ID, you must first assign it a valid ID before proceeding with key generation. Follow these steps:
1. Assign a New ID
- On VVDI MLB Tool, go to Special Function > Modify key ID.
- Assign a random ID to the blank Keydiy MLB key.
2. Generate the Dealer Key
- After modifying the ID, proceed to generate the dealer key.
- Be sure to select “Non-OEM key” option.
- Note: This process costs 200 points.
3. Learn the Key to the Vehicle
- Use VVDI MLB Tool or Key Tool Plus to perform the learning process.
- Once completed, the new key will function correctly.
