VVDI BIMTool Pro Change BMW CAS1-CAS3+ Mileage Guide

Mileage adjustment is a critical function for technicians working with BMW EWS and CAS systems. The Xhorse VVDI BIMTool Pro makes this process more straightforward, supporting a wide range of BMW modules for secure and accurate odometer correction.

Supported Systems

  • EWS3, EWS4
  • CAS1, CAS2, CAS3, CAS3+
  • CAS4 (0L15Y and 5M48H)

Note:

  • CAS3+ encrypted versions require selecting the CAS3+ type.
  • EWS1 and EWS2 are not supported.

General KM Adjustment Procedure for EWS/CAS

The method is simple:

  1. Load the EEPROM dump for the correct module type.
  2. Enter the new mileage value.
  3. Click Change KM.
  4. Save the updated EEPROM file.

Step-by-Step Guide: CAS1, CAS2, CAS3, CAS3+

  1. Record Current Mileage

    • Check the mileage displayed on the instrument cluster.

    • Remove the cluster from the vehicle to prevent automatic synchronization with the CAS module.

  2. Reset CAS Module

    • Set the CAS module’s mileage to zero.

    • This can be done via OBD or by editing the EEPROM dump.

  3. Read Instrument Cluster EEPROM

    • Use a BDM programmer to read the instrument cluster’s EEPROM dump (commonly the M35080 chip).

  4. Load EEPROM into BIMTool Pro

    • Open the File Change KM tool.

    • Select M35080 (instrument) and load the EEPROM dump.

    • Two algorithms are available (Algo 1 & Algo 2). Test both to find which matches the original mileage recorded in Step 1.

  5. Input New Mileage

    • Enter the desired odometer value.

  6. Modify EEPROM File

    • Click Change KM and save the modified file.

  7. Write Back to EEPROM

    • Program the updated file back onto the M35080 chip.

  8. Reinstall the Instrument Cluster

    • Place the cluster back into the vehicle.

  9. Complete the Process

    • Your mileage adjustment is now finished using VVDI BIMTool Pro.

The VVDI BIMTool Pro provides a reliable and efficient solution for BMW odometer correction on EWS and CAS systems. By carefully following the outlined steps and selecting the correct algorithm, technicians can ensure accurate results without synchronization issues.
